Sevan Apollo Poetry (which is his legal name) was born in Jerusalem, Israel on November 14th, 1983. He grew up in New Jersey and has most recently lived in Arizona.
Apollo has chosen Art as a tool of inspiration to bridge the gaps and to focus on what we have in common, rather than what divides us. Throughout all cultures in human history, the one trait that is shared is the desire for self-expression.
Apollo has been a jack-of-all-trades.
At 13 years old, he became a street magician and was performing underwater escapes while beind tied up in chains. By 16, he was battle-rapping against the likes of Immortal Technique and other legends in the scene. Although Apollo gained success in the hiphop industry, he has also held the titles of:
photographer, film-maker, author, rapper, poet, columnist, website designer, online marketer, inventor, real estate agent, poker player, ordained minister, and certified life coach.
Apollo has appeared on ABC’S Glass House, MTV’S True Life, VIBE Magazine, The WakeUp Show, Source’s Unsigned Hype, Showtime at Apollo, along with performances at Madison Square Garden, America West Arena, & the Billboard Awards.
In 2009, Apollo launched The Traveling Poet Project, in which he performed and presented in over 44 states in America. He presented from high schools and colleges like ASU & UCSB, to retirement homes and homeless shelters. He has worked with and spoken at events by Invisible Children, Youth for Human Rights, the Department of Peace, the Alzheimers Poetry Project, and many more non-profits and education-based organizations. His commitment to activism had him chosen to as a receipient to the United States Presidential Point of Light Award, which honors individuals making a difference in their community.
Apollo has interviewed Andrew Zimmern (of Bizarre Foods), visionary artist Alex Grey, WSOP champion Joe Hachem, Jake Balsiger, David Wolfe, Rainbeau Mars, Matisyahu, Kevin Harrington, and dozens of other celebrities.
Apollo was also an official spokesperson for the Occupy movement bringing a level of balance for both sides during his interviews on Fox News, PBS, & NPR.
Apollo’s music had him open up for acts such as Pitbull, Cassidy, and The Pussycat Dolls. He’s also shared the studio with the legendary Swizz Beats, Ruff Ryders DJ Shok, & G-Unit’s T-Scott. Apollo is currently the #1 voted artist on MTV2.Com’s “On The Rise” contest, has millions of Youtube views, and has topped the ReverbNation charts.
Apollo’s films have won “Best Director” “Judges Choice” and the “Audience Choice Awards” at several Phoenix film festivals. Apollo was also the President of the Film Club at PVCC while maintaining a 4.0 GPA, being accepted in the Honors program, and receiving several scholarships. Since completing his film studies, Apollo has done work for the World Series of Poker and The Phoenix Film Festival.
Apollo Poetry is a show-creator who has designed two show-concepts, which he is currently developing and pitching to Cirque du Soleil.
Apollo broke a Guinness World Record in 2013 and also made the Top 10 for the NASA/Axe-Apollo competition, in which the winner will be one of the first people flown to outer space.
Currently, Apollo serves as the President of Marketing for The Equation, which has received the endorsement of the legendary Larry King.
